A RESOLUTION: WHEREAS Senator Jake Knotts used racial epithets

A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS Senator Jake Knotts used racial epithets to describe a sitting House member and the President of the United States; and

WHEREAS Senator Jake Knotts’ racial epithets garnered local, state, national, and international press coverage; and

WHEREAS the press coverage of Senator Jake Knotts’ racial epithets has brought shame and disgrace upon himself, his office, and his party;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Lexington County Republican Party condemns the racist statements made by Senator Jake Knotts; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lexington County Republican Party hereby censures Senator Jake Knotts; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lexington County Republican Party calls on Senator Jake Knotts to resign his office forthwith.

RESOLVED this 10th day of June, 2010 at special meeting of the Lexington County, South Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee meeting.

Dear Republicans,
Last night the Executive Committee met to discuss the comments made by Senator Knotts. As resolution was passed after about 90m minutes of discussion.  The final vote was 27-6.  The contents are listed below.

    Need to add some teeth to this resolution.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Senator Jake Knotts will be expelled from the Republican Party if he fails to resign from his office within 30 days of this resolution.

    After Knotts, Sanford, Alvin Greene, and Joe Wilson… Does this state have no pride? Quit being sheeple…
