I think he’s very good at getting money to spend on a campaign. But then, so were Barrett, McMaster, and Bauer.

More than anything, I think the Lt. Gov’s race was a case of alphabetical voting. If his name had been Zard, I think he would have lost. It’s hard to break out and get attention for what is considered by most to be a real yawner of a race–especially in a year where the Gov.’s race sucked nearly all the air out of the atmosphere.

Ard has never revealed much about himself but homilies and trite comments in videos. All pixels so far and no substance. I can’t see that he’s anything special. We’ll see if he makes something important out of the Lt. Gov.’s office but the signs so far are not good. All Bauer felt capable of handling was the Office on Aging–something he must have figured would be a great way to pander for the votes of an aging population. Didn’t work for him so Ard may try something different.

I pray he heeds the call by South Carolina’s citizens to reform our government. If not, he’ll be embarrassed again and again because we’re ready to outmaneuver him at every point. If he’s an ally of the likes of Jake Knotts and Glenn McConnell, he’ll go down in flames.
