Budweiser? … Bull Sh!t

It was entertaining to watch the July 27 exchange between President Obama’s press secretary and a Fox News correspondent regarding the matter of what brand of beer “Barry” would be enjoying during his meeting with Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and the Cambridge Police officer who recently arrested Gates for disorderly conduct.

It was as if Obama’s press secretary was antagonistically attempting to suggest the correspondent was implying Budweiser is perhaps an imprudent pick on the president’s part. (So what if he were?)

Much of the mainstream media has since pointed out that Budweiser is a natural pick — it’s “an all American beer,” one Fox commentator remarked this morning.

Well, actually, Budweiser is no longer exactly what you can call “an all American beer.” (SCHotline suggested reading: The July 27, 2008 Letter in The Post and Courier by Michael S. Smith II titled “Global influence,” See http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2008/jul/27/letters_editor48884/ )

Just over a year ago, the Belgian spirits company InBev, now AB InBev, paid $52 billion to purchase Anheuser-Busch, the company which manufactures Budweiser.

Mr. President, here are a few “all American” beer companies whose products we would suggest the president should consider sampling, and they’re all sold by your preferred grocer, Whole Foods:

Brooklyn (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Coast (Charleston, S.C.)

Highland (Asheville, N.C.)

Lagunitas (Petaluma, C.A.)

Palmetto (Charleston, S.C.)
http://www.palmettobrewingco.com

RJ Rockers (Spartanburg, S.C.)

Rogue (Newport, OR).

If Robert Gibbs arrogantly confronts Fox News Channel White House Correspondent Wendell Goler over this matter again, Mr. Goler should call Obama’s lackey on his Bull Sh!t.

Cheers!

Unfortunately Coast is too small to bottle at the moment. They are trying to expand but it is hard with AB Inbev, Miller and Coors stifling legislation that would help smaller, in state breweries.
Also it has been noted Obama likes craft beers like the ones you listed, but he is such an ass kisser he goes for Bud. Even the officer is drinking a faux craft beer (blue moon, made by coors).
