Dumb and Dumber and Dumber

Late in February, the Obama administration attempted to divert the media’s attention away from its soon-to-be-failing “economic stimulus” efforts with a decision to, as The Post and Courier editorialized, “rush 17,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan before his administration [could] complete its ‘strategy review.'” (SCHotline Suggested reading: The Post and Courier’s (poorly titled) Feb. 28 oped “Don’t repeat Bush’s Afghan blunder” by Michael S. Smith II, link: http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2009/feb/28/letters_editor73339/ )

This didn’t work out too well. But the administration, with Churchillian gusto (i.e. “Never, never, never give up!), did not disband its campaign to distract the American public.

In July, the administration finally realized success with its efforts to shift the focus away from its terribly mismanaged economic stimulus program, this time making the president’s radical agenda to “reform” America’s healthcare system, along with Obama’s nomination of Sotomayor as a candidate for a U.S. Supreme Court judgeship the meat of most mainstream media outlets’ coverage. That is until Obama rather unpresidentially proclaimed Cambridge police officers acted “stupidly” by arresting one of the president’s old Harvard buddies for disorderly conduct.

July’s Oblitzes – two intentional, the other a bit Forrest Gumpish – have effectively distracted the Fourth Estate from providing much coverage of a national unemployment rate which has dramatically exceeded the levels Obama claimed it would if his “stimulus” package did not garner Congressional consent. The latter example was warmly welcomed by a press corps which obviously does not know the first thing about matters relevant to America’s healthcare system, and was struggling to find substantive questions to ask the president about it.

NEWS FLASH:

THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION’S MOST HIGH-PROFILE EXAMPLES OF SUCCESSFUL POLICY ENTREPRENEURSHIP — (1.) MOVING MASSIVE LEVELS OF TROOPS TO AFGHANISTAN, THUS TAKING THE U.S. ONE STEP CLOSER TO AN ALL-OUT QUAGMIRE THERE (WHILE ALSO SEVERELY WEAKENING THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY’S RESOLVE TO DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING REQUIRED TO PROTECT AMERICA), AND (2.) “RAHMING” ITS “STIMULUS” BILL THROUGH THE CONGRESS — SHALL ULTIMATELY FAIL TO PRODUCE THE RESULTS THE PRESIDENT HAS CLAIMED THEY WILL.

OBAMACARE WILL REALIZE THE SAME FATE.

For Obama, failure is obviously an option — but failure to prevent the media from shedding light on any such failures is not.

If you’re busy writing your Congressman to advise them about just how devastating the president’s healthcare reform policy prescriptions will prove if they become law, please take a moment to write to the editor of your local newspaper to ask them why we are not being presented headlines about the sweeping successes of Obama’s stimulus package. Then ask them why we’re not reading more headlines about the massive numbers of U.S. Reservists who are being called up for second and third deployments, this time to Afghanistan. Finally, ask the ones who are editorializing in favor of ObamaCare about the percentage of doctors who have written to them as proponents for the president’s healthcare plans, versus the ones who have submitted letters outlining why they oppose it.

It may also be worthwhile to ask the editors of the newspapers you read about their respective levels of experience managing medical practices or hospitals — we know the president possesses none.

We also know the Fourth Estate’s dearth of knowledge about such matters is the basis for all of the soft questions being asked of the president. The same is the case on the economic front.

My question is how many failed plans does a president have to propose and champion before ‘voters’ start to question his knowledge and abilities? This guy is a disaster looking for a place to happen.

That comment would be funny if it were not sooo true!
