FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rich Bolen

S.C. House 87

Lexington –Lexington Attorney Rich Bolen is filing as an independent candidate for South Carolina State House District 87 to succeed Representative Larry Koon. Bolen has received over 1,400 signatures from registered voters in District 87 and his nominating petitions will be filed July 15. His name will appear on the November ballot as an independent candidate.

He will mount an aggressive grassroots campaign and will visit every single voting household in his district at least once before the election.

Bolen is committed to issues important to District 87 voters, including

* Capping increases in property tax liability for homeowners.
* Signing a public pledge never to vote for a tax increase.
* Enacting Governor Sanford’s reform agenda to streamline state government and cut waste, including the merger of the Secretary of State into other agencies.
* Eliminating rush hour traffic bottlenecks in District 87.

“I am running because I believe in liberty and the free enterprise system. Competition is important in politics just like in business,” said Bolen. “Voters deserve a choice in November and now they will have one.”

Bolen is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and was a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corp. He is the former General Counsel to the Secretary of State and a veteran of numerous campaigns including both Presidents Bush, as well as Governor Carroll Campbell and Secretary of State Jim Miles. He is married to Lisa Bolen and a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
