LTE: During my one-on-one conversation with Lindsey Graham

October 28, 2008

Dear Editor,

During my one-on-one conversation with Lindsey Graham just before the S.C. Republican Party’s 2007 State Convention–the event at which he was booed by politically-engaged Republicans–I was shocked to learn just how far he had abandoned the conservative platform upon which he had run for U.S. Senate five years before. His involvement with the unconstitutional “Gang of 14” and his desire for identity-theft-inviting national ID cards pale in comparison with his votes in favor of amnesty for millions of illegal aliens and the $700 billion bailout at taxpayer expense.

In his 2007 speech to the National Council of La Raza, Graham disrespected all Americans who believe in the rule of law regarding immigration by saying, “We’re going to tell the bigots to shut up.” BetterImmigration.com gave him a grade of “D” on his 2005-2008 “Immigration-Reduction Report Card.” This issue and others prompted Quin Hillyer to write in The American Spectator in May 2008 that Graham is “The Worst Republican Senator.”

Señor Grahamnesty, listen: The Constitution is more important than party labels. On November 4, I’m voting for Bob Conley for U.S. Senate because he is the conservative committed to voting only in line with the Constitution.

Sincerely,

Vicki L. Simons

New Ellenton, SC

    Way to go, Vicki!

    Keep after ’em!

South Carolina, please get rid of this abomination and elect a real conservative next time around. We’ve got the same trouble in Georgia with our senators….
