Barack Obama should be running for President of Oprah’s Book Club

by Andrew Citizen

Barack Obama should be running for President of Oprah’s Book Club, not President of the United States of America. Senator Obama stated this week that wants to do away with America’s nuclear arsenal. Such a concept is an idea that is contrived out of one of three ways, either by smoking too much of a peace pipe, believing too much in the accuracy of MoveOn.org, or the fiction in Oprah’s latest book of the month.

Obama’s failure to understand national security is more than worrisome. We live in a brave new world, where telling terrorists and countries like Iran that we no longer have a nuclear defense system, is like a bank telling robbers, we no longer have armored guards or a security system. In a post 9/11 world, we need more security, not less.

Barack Obama consistently has shown he should be running for Class President not US President. He chooses to offer radical promises, no – nukes, free health care, more social programs. Well, Senator Obama, here’s a pop quiz for you: how are you protect America and defend against future attacks without a nuclear arsenal? While we have you in the classroom, here’s an extra credit question, how are you going to pay for all of your social programs, without raising taxes?

Senator Obama, it’s time for you to hit the books and do you’re homework, because you obviously have a far way to go.

OK so explain how having a nuclear weapon will stop terroist – it didnt on 911 or in the UK. In fact what does the US having WMDs have to do with stopping these type cells. Do you suggest using these types of weapons on the bad guys – sorry not possible

    D. Cooper,

With all due respect and thanks for your post but, one has nothing to do with the other. We cannot wrestle illegal guns from of our own streets, how are we to do away with nukes? The criminals will always have the gun so you better get yourself one too.

We need to keep out nuclear weapons. It is not that we will probably ever use them or need them its just the illusion of defense. Just like in the cold war when us and Russia had millions of nuclear weapons…we each had enough to blow the entire world up 100 times over…but it was whoever had more of those weapons was seen to be the strongest. It is all about perception. Perception IS reality. I think Mr. Obama might make a good president, but I do not agree with his Defense Strategy. We do need more security, not less.

Hes talking about stopping development of NEW weapons… not on disarming completely. Which, by the way, is what we’ve asked all other countries to do, disarm completely. Imagine yourself a tiny nothing country surrounded by other nothing countries who are always on the attack as well as having the big United States out there with all their power and YOU are being told to disarm…while knowing that all the volatile countries around you are still armed. Would you? I know I would have a hard time following this countries demands if the US didn’t at least meet me half way. Its a show of sincerity that we’re working towards the goal of no more WMD’s as hard as they are! Forget about International policy experience and think experience in getting the results you need from others. All people are basically the same whether from this country or a mid eastern country. I know I wouldn’t want everyone around me having a gun and being on the defense OR offense while I am standing in the middle completely unarmed.

    Andrew,

I try not to be a nitpicky antagonist, but “you’re” the one who needs to hit the books. Grammar fail.
