Pray for Austin Whetsell today

July 2, 2007

NEW UPDATE: We have been told the Church will be setting up a fund to help offset the search efforts for Austin Whetsell. Click on the link below for more details. It seems the Mexico government is doing little to help with the search efforts all of the money is coming from the family right now. As soon as we know more we will let you know.

UPDATE: The church has now setup a website to keep everyone informed of what is going on.

The political consulting world is in prayer today for Austin Whetsell, oldest son of republican political consultant, Walter Whetsell, owner of Starboard Communications. Austin was caught in a riptide on Sunday around 4PM in Zihuantenejo, Mexico. Walter and Austin went to Mexico on a short term mission trip for their church, Lexington Presbyterian.

As of this morning they have not been able to find the body of Austin, 15. Our prayers go out to the Whetsell family and we wish for his safe return. The family has requested prayers. There will be a noon prayer time at Lexington Presbyterian Church • 246 Barr Road Lexington, SC 29072.

You may also leave any condolences or notes here and we will pass them on to the family.

I just got back from the prayer service there were about 150 people in attendance. Commissioner Hugh Weather’s came and several Romney staffers who used to work for Walter were also in attendance. Remember Walter ran Hugh’s campaign so they go to know each other pretty good.

I will leave you with a parting thought from the service. It is from Ecclesiastes 7:2-3.

It is better to go to a house of mourning
Than to go to a house of feasting,
Because that is the end of every man,
And the living takes it to heart.
3 Sorrow is better than laughter,
For when a face is sad a heart may be happy.
